Characters: Buffy, Giles and Anya
Timleline: Season 5. Riley has left, but before the Body.

Buffy Summers entered the Magic Box on a mission. With a cursory look around the main shop she asked Anya, “Where’s Giles?”
The exasperated shop keeper, who was dressed as witch complete with warted nose and green skin answered, “Well, he said he was going down to the storeroom to get more mummy hands, but I think it was just an excuse for him to hide from all the female customers that have been ogling him. Tell him he needs to get back up here so we can sell more things.”
Buffy hid a grin at Anya’s bluntness and wondered if she had cast some sort of spell on her Watcher’s wizard costume. She knew he was handsome, and that many of the female customers found him attractive, but she’d seen the both the purple and blue magician’s robes before. And while they were cute and certainly in keeping with the holiday spirit, they really did not lend themselves to ogling. As she reached the bottom of the stairs she drew in a sharp breath. Wow. Her Watcher was bent over a crate, his tight fitting pants were definitely not part of any wizard costume. Her eyes slowly traveled upward, noting the cutlass and white silk shirt , which was a bit translucent and tucked tantalizingly into the tight fitting pants.
Hearing a noise behind him he barked out, “Anya, for the last time, I will be up in a few minutes.” Realizing that it was not his assistant, but his Slayer that had entered the storeroom he asked, “Buffy? Is everything alright?”
Buffy gulped and tried to focus. She was having a difficult time reconciling her mental image of her stuffy Watcher with the man before her. The white silk shirt was unbuttoned halfway, showing a tantalizing amount of chest hair and muscle. He wasn’t wearing his glasses, so she had an unobstructed view of those green eyes of his. And to top it all off he was wearing not only a bandana, but an earing to boot.
“Buffy?” He stepped closer, concerned that his Slayer had not answered him and seemed to be in some sort of trance.
She shook her head, and finally responded. “Hey Giles. Great costume.”
Her Watcher blushed and looked down at the ground, “Thank you. I, uh, threw it together at the last minute when Anya demanded Xander dress as a wizard so they could match.”
“Oh, yes. I was supposed to tell you, you’re to hurry up and get back upstairs so customers will buy more stuff. According to Anya, sales have plummeted since you came down here to hide.”
Giles scowled. “I am not hiding. I came down here for more mummy hands and realized I hadn’t yet cataloged the latest shipment.”
Buffy giggled. “Ri-ight.”
Giles tried to glare at her, but the corners of his mouth twitched. He loved it when she teased him. “Was there some reason you stopped by, or are you merely here to harass your poor Watcher?”
Buffy rolled her eyes but smiled at him all the same. “What are you doing tonight?”
“Buffy, Halloween is a night that creatures of the dark stay in. There’s no need for you to patrol and I don’t have any research planned.”
“Oh sure. Unless you’re an evil sorcerer that thinks its fun to curse Halloween costumes, or a stupid fraternity that paints summoning circles on the floor. Every year you tell me ‘Take the night off, Buffy. Nothing happens on Halloween, Buffy.’ Pfft. When has it been ever been quiet on Halloween?”
“Point taken. If it will ease your mind, I will patrol tonight.”
“Giles! I didn’t come here to shirk my duties.”
“I realize that Buffy, but you should have a night off.” A thought occurred to Giles. “Are you worried about your Mother and Dawn? I could look in on them during my patrol. You do have plans, yes?”
“Giles!”
“What?”
“I plan to spend Halloween with my friends. The gang is coming over around 7:30. Mom and Dawn are decorating as we speak. I think it will be good for Mom to take her mind off things.”
“Yes. Well, that sounds wonderful. Have a nice time and as I said, I’ll patrol, so you shouldn’t worry.” He smiled at her.
“Giles!”
“What? Buffy, what has you so upset?”
“You. You ninny. I said I was spending Halloween with my friends. That includes you, you big dummy.”
“What? Buffy, I, it’s kind of you, but you don’t need me there.”
“Giles! Don’t you want to spend Halloween with me?” She pouted.
“Oh dear lord. What time did you say?”
“Seven-thirty.”
“Alright. That should give me enough time to go home and change. Do you want me to bring anything?”
“Don’t you dare change! Everyone is going to be wearing costumes. Even Mom and Dawn. And bring something to snack on, if you’d like.”
“But …” His protest was thwarted by another pout. He sighed in defeat.
“Yay! I win!”
