Made for February's Amnesty Challenge at [community profile] hc_bingo . My prompts were: free space (I chose stranded/survival scenario), undeserved reputation, hugs, hypothermia.

This screamed out for me to do something with the Stargate SG-1 Solitudes episode. Rather than write a fic, I chose to make a fanmix.

Tracklist, lyric snippets and explaination/prompts

1. Marooned - Pink Floyd

Prompt - stranded/survival scenario

Sam and Jack are stranded when the stargate malfunctions.

Instrumental

2. Cold - Annie Lennox

Prompt - hypothermia

The duo doesn't realize they are in Antartica. Air temperature is very, very cold.

Winter has frozen us

Let love take hold of us

(Cold, cold, cold)

Now are shivering

Blue ice is glittering

(Cold, cold, cold)

3. I Shiver - Robert Cray

Prompt - hypothermia

Another song reflecting on the cold. I also liked the line about his headache as Jack has a concussion and internal bleeding.

I've got a headache that just won't go away.

It's a wonder that I'm not dead.

4. Love Like Winter - AFI

Prompt - undeserved reputation

I think when Sam first meets Jack she makes some assumptions about him that prove to be untrue. For example, during this episode she discovers it was thoughts of his wife (now ex) that got him through his being stranded in Iraq. Jack loves very deeply and I think he finds his soulmate in Sam, although he has to get over his ex-wife first.

It's in the blood, it's in the blood

I met my love before I was born

5. Your Heart is an Empty Room - Death Cab for Cutie

Prompt - n/a

Not really one of the four prompts but I think it is a good transition song. Sam's beginning to see Jack in a different light and during one of the behind the scenes interviews the director mentioned this episode is what opened the writer's/director's eyes to the chemistry between the two. They played on this chemistry throughout the series and the relationship was finally canonized in novels written after the show ended.

And you find the love that's true

But you don't know what now to do

'Cause the chase is all you know

And she stopped running months ago

6. Love Me Back to Life - Bon Jovi

Prompt - hugs

Sam snuggles up to Jack to keep him warm and alive.

Take me, touch me, hold me like you mean it

Make me come alive

Hurt me, heal me, come and make me feel it

Rescue me tonight

Love me back to life

7. Forever Man - Eric Clapton

Prompt - undeserved reputation

Jack isn't really a womanizer/playboy type, despite all his flirting. He was devoted to Sarah for ten years and later is equally devoted to Sam.

How many times must I say "I love you"

Before you finally understand?

Won't you be my forever woman?

I'll try to be your forever man (forever man)

8. Hold On - Sarah McLachlan

Prompt - stranded/survival scenario

Jack is dying. Sam orders him to hold on.

Now you're sleeping peaceful

I lie awake and pray

That you'll be strong tomorrow

And will see another day

And we will praise it

And love the light that brings a smile

9. Keep Yourself Alive - Queen

Prompt - stranded/survival scenario

Sam initially follows Jack's order and climbs to the surface, but when faced with unbroken ice as far as the eye can see, she climbs back down to face her final moments with Jack.

Do you think you're better ev'ry day?

No I think I'm two steps nearer to my grave

Keep yourself alive

Keep yourself alive

All you people keep yourself alive

10. Crater Hug - Mark Snow

Prompt - hugs

Sam snuggles up to Jack one last time and tells him it's okay to sleep now. Fortunately they are rescued. I started the playlist with an instrumental and wanted to end with one.

Instrumental
