Gosh, today's challenge is about favorite tropes or kinks. I'm not sure I could pick just one, or even a handful. Probably why [community profile] trope_bingo is one of my favorite bingo challenges. For me, challenge prompts and tropes are perfect for short to medium length stories. I've used them as starting points, particularly when writing for a rare pair or fandom, and also as a means to add a bit of structure to a ficlet/idea that I want to develop into something a bit longer. Twisting/playing with tropes is also quite fun.

A few favorites of mine: AU's, crossovers, May-December romance, hurt/comfort, fix-its

You're right, tropes are great for structuring story.

Love a good trope. :} I like writing angst more than reading it. I like reading/writing H/C about equally. Pining is pretty awesome. Miscommunication. And, of course, There Was Only One Bed.

I guess it might be fair to say, though, that they're all best in fiction and anywhere from an inconvenience to horrible in real life.
